Mahj Teachers
Gabby and Rachel had only recently met when they started Mahji Mazels, but they learned they both teach Mahjong with a similar passion and enthusiasm. They begin their lessons with a history of the game and their connections to Mahjong. They believe in honoring and sharing the game's history and connection to the Jewish community.

Rachel passes around a few tiles from her grandma Dottie's 1950s set and her last Mahjong card from 1989, the year she passed away.

Gabby starts her lessons with a story about one of her grandma's Mahjong sets, which she purchased in Hong Kong in the late 1950s and brought back to the US. She also talks about how that same grandma taught her how to play Mahjong when she was 12.

We hope you include a bit of Mahjong history before each of your lessons. We've created a script template you can use, but feel free to personalize it and make it your own.
